Zulutrade Results for December 2010

Here are my latest results of 5 different demos from Zulutrade that started on December 6, 2010.

Account Settings
Stop Loss MarginMeter Pips Gained
DM232410 1 and 1 200 172% -1772
DM411519 1 and 1 300 225% -693
DM58382655 1 and 1 400 266% -911
DM727279 1 and 1 500 290% -866
DM964236 2 and 1 400 437% -756

Now you are probably wondering, since all the demos are negative how could this be a good thing right? Well the results above are including the losing systems. What we are really focusing on obviously is the winning systems. In order to find the good systems you have to weed out the bad ones or the not so good ones.

So therefore, from the above demos, the following systems are the ones that produced the most pips. Please note that these results were obtained by using the 400 pip stop.

4X=Millions – 119 pips
Beso – 30 pips
chartmaster63  - 170 pips
Currency Changers
– 66 pips
Earn Big Bills
– 24 pips
fixtrade1 –
16 pips
Fly on the Wall -
71 pips
frankfx –
57 pips
FX Combo – 96 pips
GBP FUND – 35 pips
Grey Wolf – 16 pips
STARFOREX – 16 pips
vuvuzelaFx – 218 pips
Zulutop5 – 221 pips

By the way, the positive results for Zulutop5 were obtained by using a wider stop of 500 pips.

To find out which systems did the worst, download my detailed analysis of this demo test and all of past demo tests in an Excel spreadsheet.

I believe knowing which systems did the worst is also important so you don’t waste your time or capital trying them out.

Please share what systems are working well for you and also the systems to stay away from. I would love to hear your input and feedback. Let’s collaborate!

Zulutrade Results Ending September 2010

Here are my latest results of 5 different demos from Zulutrade. As you may have realized from reading my past results is that I am opening 5 demos every 30 days and carrying over only the providers that consistently produce month after month. I call this a rinse and repeat process. This is a very tedious process however it’s well worth it so you know what providers to choose from when you are ready to go live. Why do I do this? Why not! Why else wouldn’t you want to do your homework and invest a little time first before you go live and potentially lose all of your hard earned capital.

I think Warren Buffet and George Soros put it best when they said the following:

“Investing Rule No. 1: Never lose money. Rule No. 2: Never forget Rule No. 1.” – Warren Buffett

“Survive first, and make money afterwards.” – George Soros

Well onto my results:

Here is my latest demo test of 5 different demos from Zulutrade. After many months of demo testing, I have been able to narrow down by trial and error the best producing systems. However one thing I have noticed is that certain system pro will need custom stop losses set by you. You will have losses with certain system providers if you use the same stop loss for all system providers.

Platform Errors

Keep an eye on your trades and see if you have trades that have closed in profit on the providers pages but are still open in your account.

This could be happening for several reasons, 1) technical difficulties in other words the signal to close never reached your account most likely due to a break in the lines of  communication between Zulutrade and your account which could be Zulutrade’s fault or your brokers fault for not able to receive the signl, 2) a disconnection between the providers MT4 platform and Zulutrade which would make it either the providers fault or Zulutrade for not receiving it, 3) signal to close was sent from the providers MT4 to Zulutrade and then to your account but your trade never closed because the take profit was missed by a pip or so or basically the difference in spread between the providers and your account.

With only on one of examples above can you really do anything about and that is selecting a broker that has the lowest spreads but with 1) excellent broker execution meaning very low amount of broker disconnections and
2) excellent execution of trades meaning very low amount of requotes or trade context busy errors.

Just some things to think about.

Please email and let me know if this has happened to  you as well.

No you are not reading them wrong!

Well here they are… 5 new demos all opened at the same time at Zulutrade.  And the good news so far is that they are all making money with no major losses.  Why because I removed the worst performing systems from the 5 demo test I ran prior to this one.

Here are the public pages for you to access so you can see for yourself:

Demo DM066642 Max Open Positions = 1 and Max Open Positions Per Currency = 1 Stop 300

Demo DM174746 Max Open Positions = 1 and Max Open Positions Per Currency = 1 Stop 400

Demo DM330924 Max Open Positions = 1 and Max Open Positions Per Currency = 1 Stop 500

Demo DM5493470 Max Open Positions = 2 and Max Open Positions Per Currency = 1 Stop 400

Demo DM995646 Max Open Positions = 3 and Max Open Positions Per Currency = 1 Stop 400

And no you are not reading them wrong, they are all profitable. However each account has anywheres from $3,000 to  $9,000 in open positions.  Too bad the public page doesn’t show the total in open positions.  It just gives you a list of the open positions.  However you can see that the last two demos
that allow 2 and 1  and 3 and 1 are the demos with the most open positions thus larger drawdown. I created these two demos to see how much they can make with these settings and also if they can recuperate faster if they have
an occasional loss here and there. And also to benefit from the systems that trade different pairs.

However I would like to note here is that there was a system that I found called Surfing in each of the demos that had an open position but were closed in their performance page.  So I closed them all myself.  I probably could have left them all open because it   was a EURUSD buy and it looks like the EURUSD is inching north anyways when you look at the EURUSD daily chart.  It appears that it is ranging but upward bound.

I think I sent you a copy of the transcript of the chat I had with Zulutrade about this provider.  If not, I’ll send it to you in the next email. I already uploaded a copy of this transcript to the Yahoo Group message board so others can read and be aware. (beware)

Here is the trade I closed:  (EURUSD is at 1.3677 as of this writing and could head down as we go into the weekend)

SURFING EUR/USD BUY 1 2010/03/11 07:26:25 1.36272 2010/03/17 11:31:30 1.37877 189 -7 -4.92 161 pips
$1,600.08

Here is the same trade but where they opened it 5 minutes later.

BUY EUR/USD 1 2010/03/11 07:26:30 2010/03/11 08:35:49 1.36381 1.36438 7
-17
6 0 5.7 pips
$5.70

If you notice there was a time delay of 5 minutes and a price difference of almost 10 pips. According to the Zulutrade chat and response, they said this order was a pending order on the traders platform and never got executed by the provider in their account but it did in mine.  I guess the provider canceled the first order but went back into the market 5 minutes later. And since I have all my demos set to 1 max positions per currency it didn’t open that position that opened 5 minutes later in their platform.  Mine was still open and running loose!
This experience just teaches that we still have to watch the eggs in our baskets or continue to remove the problem children until we only have systems that are pretty much safe to let run on their own without much intervention and supervision on our part.

Email me for a detailed complete analysis of the all the systems I have been testing to Mike@ZulutradeProviders.com

5 Zulutrade Demos Just Margined!

Well here we are two weeks later after my last post…the final results are in!

The 5 demos that where I was testing 36 system providers margined out completely after 2 weeks. The margin was mainly due in part to the major drop in the EURUSD or EUR weakness last week. Also the stops I placed were at -600 pips for each. Yes I know…that seems a bit high but I wanted to see what would happen by giving the providers plenty of room for error. ;)

Well sure enough…the results proved that I gave them too much room for error. Many of the systems that I was testing traded the EURUSD. So with a great portion of my of providers are on the wrong side of the trade…well you know what happens….they all went into major drawdown.

I will post my results in a few days.

What I am going to do now is test the same 36 systems in 5 new demos but now with stop losses of 100, 200, 400 in three different demos all with a max total of 1 trade open at any one time and a max total of 1 trade open per currency.

And in the last two, I am going to test the best 23 of those same 36 systems all with a 400 stop loss and a max total of 2 trades open at any one time and a max total of 1 trade open per currency. And in the last demo , a total max of 3 trades open at any one time with 1 total max open per currency.

I will add a table of the systems and new settings to my blog within the next few days.

Let’s see what happens!

My goal is to see if any or all the $50,000 demo accounts trading 1 standard lot can survive the draw down and produce good profits using various stop loss and max trade settings.

Wish me luck!

Custom Zulutrade Analysis of Providers

I am currently working on an analysis of 35 system providers and putting everything on a spread sheet.

It’s not done however here is what I have so far and it is attached so you can see what I am doing.

What I am doing is running 5 demos of the same 35 system providers but with different settings.  The 6th demo is with LowestDD by itself to see how just that one system produces. By the way, all these demos are trading 1 standard lot except for DM9979000 which is 2 standard lots. I want to find out if this account will do great if I trade 2 standard lots on only 23 of the best 35 systems.

Here is a taste of what you will see in the spread sheet that I am creating.  There is a lot more detailed info on the spread sheet but this should give you a little idea of what I am working on. If you would like a copy of this spread sheet, please email me.

By the way, the following demos were all opened around the
January 24, 2010.

Open Lowest January Februrary
Account Settings MarginMeter Drawdown Pips Pips
DM042422 1 and 1 1108% ($27,000) 1240
DM045618 2 and 1 2934% ($30,000) 1534
DM192207 2 and 2 9524% margined -1517
DM462325 3 and 1 9355% margined -1741
DM997900 1 and 1 2119% margined -1,334
DM942360 No Limit 197% (1,271) 117

The explanation of 1 and 1 etc. is as follows:

Account Systems Settings Lot Size
DM042422 35 1 Total Max and 1 Max per Currency 1 mini
DM045618 35 2 Total Max and 1 Max per Currency 1 mini
DM192207 35 2 Total Max and 2 Max per Currency 1 mini
DM462325 35 3 Total Max and 1 Max per Currency 1 mini
DM9979000 35 1 Total Max and 1 Max per Currency 2 mini
DM942360 LowestDD No max limit and No limit on currency 1 mini

As you can see from the table above. Three $50,000 accounts have
already margined out.  And the first two have some huge DD.

What I am trying to do is stretch the boundaries or limits of what
can be done with a $50,000 balance.  And as you can see, that
obviously having too many systems and too many max allowable
positions ie. too much leverage will bust the account.  What I am
doing is working from the end and work backwards.

Since I have small accounts now, I want to know how the systems
and I will behave when my balance is $50,000.    Since I know from
personal experience that creative visualization is very important in
creating what you want, I might as well act as if I have it already.

Plus one of the secrets to making money is obviously to make more
than you  lose but moreover it’s about preserving your capital or
keeping  more of what you made already.

With regards to the systems, I want to know which systems produce
the most with the least amount of DD.  All systems even the best ones
have drawdown. The trick is to only use the ones that produce the most pips with the least amount of DD.   Pretty simple but not that easy!  ;)

We have to put in the time and research in the beginning to make
it pay off for us later.  And it’s still going to take more time, patience,
persistence and discipline to make it really big in forex.  And I am willing
to take on the challenge. As the saying goes, “I’d rather get rich slowly
then go broke fast!”  And since we are working with small balances
…..it’s even more critical that we work smarter!

What do you think of the above philosophy and all that I have shared with you thus far?

I would love to hear your input and feedback. Let’s collaborate!

Warm wishes,
